Bearded dragons are friendly, hardy reptiles that live 8–12 years and grow up to 2 feet long. They need a spacious tank (at least 75 gallons for adults) with a basking spot of 100–110°F, a cool side around 80°F, and UVB lighting for 12–14 hours daily. Use solid substrates like tile or reptile carpet—avoid loose sand.
They are omnivores: babies eat mostly insects (like crickets and dubia roaches), while adults eat mostly leafy greens and vegetables. Offer calcium and multivitamin supplements several times a week. Keep humidity around 30–40% and provide fresh water daily.
Bearded dragons are gentle and enjoy handling once tamed. Regular cleaning, proper diet, and correct lighting prevent health issues like impaction and metabolic bone disease. With the right care, they make calm, interactive pets for beginners and experienced keepers alike.
